Intra-Oral Camera
The Intra-Oral is a pen shaped tiny digital camera with which the dentist can very closely inspect the teeth and gums. This is immediately displayed on a screen for the benefit of the dentist and the patient. Tiny fractures in tooth structure, cracks in fillings and the little problems that one day could become big dental issues are immediately visible, without any x-ray! Interestingly, being able to actually see what’s going on in the mouth can make any dental procedure far less stressful as it becomes quite obvious what needs to be handled and why.
Laser Cavity Detection
We also employ Diagnodent, a laser-based cavity detection system to further refine treatment. The Diagnodent is a small pen-like probe that the dentist can use to locate dental decay before it is visible to the naked eye or evident to inspection with a dental instrument. It sends a signal when it locates decay. Early detection means dental work can serve to prevent problems rather than having to fix small issues that have become major ones through neglect. This technology permits a very early warning of dental problems – meaning the amount of treatment needed is minimized – saving your time, discomfort and needless expense.
