We have a way to treat jaw pain with a low level laser. Between 5-12% of people in the U.S. experience pain associated with TMJ disorder. Until recently, it was typically treated with injections, physical therapy, night guards and anti-inflammatory medications. Now there is an effective therapy with the use of laser technology. We use the EPIC laser by Biolase.
Signs and Symptoms of TMJ Disorder:
The Epic laser works as a topical heating device that helps temporarily increase your blood circulation as well as to temporarily relax the jaw muscles. The Epic then is able to temporarily relieve joint pain and stiffness. Treatment takes approximately 10 minutes for each area. Patients often come in for a series of 2-8 treatments, once ever 2-4 days. Sometimes even fewer treatments are needed.
